Mission + Compassion

“God doesn’t have a mission for God’s church, God has a church for God’s mission.” – A. Hirsch

Bell Memorial Church is involved in numerous community services for the purpose of helping those in need and spreading faith through Christian missions.

SALVATION ARMY ELLWOOD CITY UNIT

The Salvation Army Ellwood City Unit is a volunteer-led unit, blessing our neighbors by helping with electric / gas / water bills, rent assistance, as well as clothing and grocery vouchers.  Every Christmas season, volunteers from Bell, ring the “bell” to raise donations for the Salvation Army so they can meet people’s needs in Christ’s name.  Call or text the Salvation Army Ellwood City at 724-691-8012

RUMMAGE SALE

The rummage sale at Bell Church provides clothing and goods to the community at minimal cost. It’s also a connecting point for our neighbors, the borough, and the people of Bell Church. Watch for posted dates in April and October!

THIRD THURSDAY MEALS

This is a community outreach started by Christ Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City to provide meals for those in need. Volunteers are needed to help with cooking and packaging. Please contact Bell’s office for details on serving this mission.

GREET & TREAT | TRICK OR TREAT NIGHT

Every year at Halloween, we get to know our neighbors by holding a Greet & Treat on the front lawn of Bell, offering candy to kiddos and a respite for tired adults.  During the month of October, candy is collected in the specified bin in the foyer. We need a lot of candy to give out to our large group of neighborhood kids!

HOLY REDEEMER SOCIAL SERVICES

We support our local food bank, the Holy Redeemer Social Services.  Donated pantry items are collected in the foyer of the church, and then taken to the Food Bank at Holy Redeemer – Divine Grace Parish.  The first Thursday of the month, HRSS invites volunteers to stock and organize the food pantry.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD | CHRISTMAS

Samaritan’s Purse provides gift boxes for children nationally and internationally at Christmas. Bell Church is one of many churches that purchases toys, hygiene items, and school supplies to fill the shoeboxes.

CARPENTER’S PROJECT

The Carpenter’s Project is a multi-denominational, intergenerational Christian mission program in Ellwood City. With the purpose of assisting homeowners with minor repairs, The Carpenter’s Project volunteers work for one week in July. In addition to the uniqueness of many churches working together, there is no charge to the homeowners for the work. Check the calendar for dates!

5 STAR GLOBAL MINISTRY

Bell Memorial Church supports Autumn Marshall, co-founder and Director of Therapy & Outreach of 5 Star Global Ministry. The Christian based, non-profit ministry, helps families in need in the country of Haiti, where Autumn resides. Autumn is originally from the New Castle area.
